Oil leakage from the air compressor and lubricating oil overflowing from the surface are common faults of air compressors, which may be caused by a variety of reasons. The following are common causes, diagnosis and troubleshooting methods:
The reasons for oil leakage in air compressors are mostly as follows:
1. The seal ring and oil seal are worn, hardened, fallen off or defective and leaking oil after long-term use.
2. The main shaft is loose, causing the oil seal to not fit tightly and leaking oil.
3. The joints and bolts of the inlet and return oil pipes leak and loosen due to vibration, causing the joint surface to be poorly sealed and leaking oil.
4. The oil level is too high, resulting in excessive pressure and leakage; oil quality problems will aggravate the wear of the seal.
5. Oil blockage will increase the internal pressure, and the oil will spray out from the weak seal.
6. Casting or processing defects cause oil leakage in the air compressor.
Diagnosis and elimination of oil leakage:
1. When the air compressor leaks oil, pay attention to the oil seal part, check whether the oil seal has cracks, and whether the inner lip has cracks or flanges. If any of the above conditions occur, it should be replaced; check whether the joint surface of the oil seal and the main shaft has scratches or defects. If there are scratches or defects, it should be replaced. Check whether the oil return is smooth. Poor oil return will cause excessive crankcase pressure and damage the oil seal. If oil leaks or falls off, it must be ensured that the oil return pipe has a minimum diameter, no twisting or bending, and smooth oil return. Check the matching size of the oil seal and the box body. If it does not meet the standard, it should be replaced.
2. Move the main shaft with force to check whether the main shaft neck clearance is too large. If the clearance is too large, the bearing and oil seal should be replaced at the same time.
3. Check the sealing condition of the gaskets at each joint, repair or replace the gaskets, and check and tighten the inlet and return oil joint bolts and the box body threads.
4. Check the oil level gauge to confirm whether it exceeds the upper limit, and release excess oil to the standard oil level; observe whether the oil is turbid, emulsified or has impurities. If the oil quality is abnormal, completely replace the oil and clean the oil channel.
5. If the oil leakage is accompanied by abnormal noise or pressure, it may be due to oil separator blockage or component cracks, and further inspection is required. Disassemble the oil separator and remove the blockage; if the blockage is serious, directly replace the new oil separator.
6. If the air compressor leaks oil, it is necessary to check whether there are defects in the casting or processing of the box, and repair or replace the defective parts.
Through the above steps, the oil leakage problem of the air compressor can be solved in a targeted manner. Regular maintenance is required on a daily basis to avoid oil leakage caused by improper maintenance.
